One of the most important topics at this year's Fakuma trade fair was the transformation of the polymer industry towards greater sustainability. The industry seemed to agree that sustainable material alternatives will play an increasingly important role in the future. At our stand, for example, we presented our broad portfolio of recyclates and bio-based and biodegradable polymers to the visitors. As a distributor, we work with selected suppliers around the world, enabling us to solve two challenges that our customers have when it comes to procuring recycled materials: We can guarantee the broad availability as well as consistent and high quality of the desired material.
This year, we expanded our product portfolio through numerous partnerships. We have been selling high-quality, unfilled polypropylene (R-PP) from the Danish recyclate manufacturer RC Plast for several months now, for example. In addition, the French polymer distributor Fournier Polymers joined the Meraxis Group in spring 2023. Our experienced Fournier colleagues provided information on the expanded range of materials offered by new supply partners such as ExxonMobil.
Our large purchasing volume gives us leverage to counteract the ongoing price volatility. According to industry experts at Fakuma, it will be some time before supply and demand return to a consistently stable level.
Customers can view current commodity prices in our customer portal. In addition to market price trends, the tool also offers a 360° overview of all orders and contracts with Meraxis. At our booth, we demonstrated the functionalities of our customer portal.
We are delighted that we received a lot of positive feedback about our one-stop shop, that we were able to lock in actual orders, and that we had interesting discussions with new customers. The exchanges about current challenges, opportunities and trends were also very informative for us. We received a lot of suggestions that we will incorporate into the further development of our services and products.
